Can I hire a car for just a few hours?
Our minimum hire period is one day. If you only need a car for a few hours, the daily rate still applies, but you’re free to use it for the full day.
Is daily car hire available at Australian airports?
Yes. Daily hire is available at major airports in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Cairns, Launceston, Darwin, Adelaide and more. Pick up on arrival and drop off before your flight home, with our airport transfer service getting you to and from the terminal.
Can I return my daily hire car to a different location?
One-way daily hire is available at select locations. Enter your pickup and drop-off points in our booking tool to see available options and any one-way fees.
How old do I need to be to hire a car for a day in Australia?
Drivers must be at least 21 and hold a valid full licence. Bargain Car Rentals doesn’t charge a young driver surcharge for eligible drivers aged 21 to 24.
Can I extend my daily hire if plans change?
Yes, subject to vehicle availability. Contact our team as early as you can to add extra days.

What do I need for a daily hire car?
Have these ready at pickup and it only takes a few minutes:
- A valid driver’s licence (physical preferred, digital accepted where it can be verified)
- A credit or debit card in the driver’s name for the security deposit
- Your booking confirmation
- A passport and International Driving Permit, if you’re an international visitor
Additional drivers must show their own valid licence at pickup.
