Is it easy to drive a van around Sydney?
Sydney traffic can be busy, especially during weekday peak hours (7am–9:30am and 4pm–6:30pm). When driving a van, plan ahead for parking as some inner-city areas have height or loading restrictions. Outside the CBD, van travel is generally smooth and well-supported by signage.
Where can I park a rental van in Sydney?
Look for open-air car parks and dedicated loading zones, especially for high-roof or long-wheelbase vans. Many shopping centres and suburban areas accommodate vans, but always check height restrictions before entering undercover parking.
Do I need a special licence to drive a minivan or cargo van in Sydney?
No special licence is required for vans seating 12 passengers or fewer. A full, unrestricted driver’s licence (held for at least 12 months) is all you need for most rental vans in Sydney. In fact, you can hire anything under 4.2 tonnes with a standard licence. So if a van doesn’t cut it, you also hire a truck from our fleet.
Can I take my rental van outside of Sydney?
Yes. You’re free to drive your van beyond the city, from Blue Mountains day trips to longer journeys down the South Coast or north to Byron Bay. Just let us know if you’re planning long-distance or interstate travel. We may also be able to accommodate a one-way rental, but it’s best to contact us with your requirements to see if this is possible.
