Rental Requirements & Policies
Before booking your SUV rental, you’ll need to make sure you tick off a few requirements.
1. Do you meet the driver’s license requirements?
You’ll need a valid driver’s licence to hire a car in Australia. If you’re visiting from overseas, you’ll also need an approved translation into English or an International Driving Permit (IDP).
2. Want to register an additional driver?
At Bargain Car Rentals, you can add an additional driver at no extra cost. Just know they’ll need to meet the same requirements as the primary driver.
3. Do you meet the age restrictions?
We set a minimum age limit for those renting our vehicles. You and any authorised driver must be at least 21 years*, less than 85 years of age and have no less than 12 months of driving experience (unless there is an agreed variation before the start of rental). For luxury car rental, you must be at least 25 years of age.
Other restrictions
1. No unsealed roads or off-roading
Unless you’ve got a specific go-ahead (see clause 4.3 if you’re into the fine print), our cars aren’t made for off-road adventures or 4WD tracks.

Yes – for select locations, one-way rentals are absolutely an option. To check if it’s available for your trip, just pop in your pick-up location when booking and use the dropdown menu to explore the list of possible drop-off spots. If the location you’re after is listed, you’re good to go.
