With pure and unadulterated honey running through their veins, the guys behind The Tasmanian Honey Company produce and export some of the most coveted liquid gold to come out of the southern isle. Produced in a pristine environment and with the most minimal of handling, the HACCO-certified honey is one of the purest you’ll ever find, anywhere in the world. With a passion for forestry and bees, the company produces unique candied honey with unique flavours that accentuate the splendid wild forests of Tasmania. From leatherwood to Christmas bush, meadow, eucalyptus and world-renowned Manuka, THC honey, honey drops and beauty products (like soap bars and lip balms) make for exquisite Tasmania souvenirs.

Once you know what real honey is meant to taste like, you’ll never go back to the supermarket kind again and, thanks to the online shopping service offered by THC, and international delivery, you’ll never have to.

How to Visit The Tasmanian Honey Company

Ideally located in a town called Perth, just 6km southwest of the Launceston Airport, the Tasmanian Honey Company makes for a fantastic first-stop out of town, although you’ll probably want to visit again at the end of your holiday to take some of the splendid honey jars home. You’ll find this beautiful shop on 25A Main Road, Perth, just 1.2km before the junction with Drummond Road, if coming from the north. The shop is open from Monday to Friday, 9am to 4.30pm.

What to see and do around the area

An often overlooked region of Tasmania, the Northern Midlands offer a wealth of attractions for those who are either short on time (and wish to remain close to Launceston) or those who wish to discover less touristy destinations in Tasmania. Interesting highlights include Campbell Town (one of the original stops on the coach route between Hobart and Launceston), Evandale (regarded as one of Australia’s best-preserved colonial towns) and the quaint town of Ross, revered for its English architectural heritage and outstanding stone bridge.

Known primarily as a convenient stop on the Launceston to Hobart road, Perth is of great historical importance and nowadays boasts dozens of heritage-listed buildings, including the Leather Bottle Inn, built in 1839, the oldest of the town’s many Georgian and Victorian architectural gems. Pick up a National Trust Brochure in town and set off on a self-walking tour to discover the town’s impressive and little-known heritage.

If picking up your Bargain Car Rental from Hobart and wish to head north, you can also easily visit all the above-mentioned places on your way to Launceston and the northern coast.
